Mediate consortium partners HIVA and GGS are conducting a study on Belgium's implementation of the European CSDD directive.
Mediate consortium partners HIVA and GGS are conducting a study commissioned by the Belgian government (FPS Economy) on Belgium's implementation of the European Directive on Corporate Duty of Care (CSDDD - EU 2024/1760). This directive requires companies to identify and address human rights and environmental risks within their value chains. The project analyses how other EU member states, notably France and Germany, have transposed similar regulations, paying particular attention to the institutional, operational and budgetary implications. On this basis, the study makes recommendations for effective and coherent Belgian implementation, including proposals for a monitoring and guidance authority. The study supports Belgium in translating European sustainability objectives into concrete measures and structures, thus contributing to the protection of human rights and the environment in global value chains.
