WP3: Due diligence in the financial sector
We examine the financial sector's role in due diligence, focusing on legislation, litigation and social campaigns. We formulate best practices for a responsible sector.
Core activities:
- Analysis of emerging regulations and societal pressure on financial institutions to factor negative impacts into their financing decisions
- Normative analysis of the role of financial institutions as intermediaries or targets of due diligence rules
- Legal analysis of liability conditions and risks for the financial sector, with a focus on tropical agriculture and deforestation
- Formulation of best practices for internal compliance and application of due diligence in the sector
