Mediate consortium partners HIVA and GGS organised a workshop for policymakers on the changes and implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).
On 28 May, Mediate consortium partners HIVA and GGS organised a workshop for policymakers at the NOVA School of Law in Lisbon: "Transposing the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) - Navigating Legal Uncertainties amidst the Omnibus Proposal and Implementation Challenges".
The workshop provided a platform for policymakers to gain clarity on the latest developments, explore possible regulatory scenarios, and discuss concrete steps for effective transposition of the CSDDD. During expert panels and interactive sessions, participants engaged with legal academics, policymakers, businesses, civil society organisations and sector representatives on the opportunities and challenges presented by the directive.
The workshop showed that member states are taking different approaches: different ministries are taking the lead on transposition, and various options for appointing a supervisory authority are being considered. There is also a strong focus on supporting businesses with implementation, including through guidance, training and helpdesks.
